The Princessa, Machiavelli for Women
by Harriet Rubin
I have never read a book more than two times, most I’ve only read once. The Princessa
captured my attention so much and has made such a huge difference in my professional and
personal life that I have read it at least 16 times! This book will show you how to put
love and heart into the way you manage your professional and personal life. Harriet Rubin,
a contributing editor and columnist for Fast Company Magazine (which I also highly recommend)
gives powerful strategies to leading from your heart and winning the games and wars of
business and personal relationships in a man’s world. It’s a must read for any woman that
wants to hold on to her feminine strengths while using them to be powerful in fulfilling
her personal and professional dreams. And, for that matter, I figure men can also benefit
from learning these strategies, huh! - Lily Z.

Don’t Worry, Make Money: Spiritual and Practical Ways to Create Abundance and More Fun in Your Life
by Richard Carlson
Several years ago, when I first started Aldebaran Associates,
I was plagued by worries about the lack of money in my life and how I would pay
my bills. Someone gave me this wonderful little book, Don’t Worry, Make Money
and it helped me tremendously. It is written in very easy language and gives
you 100 tips on how not to worry about money but how to instead, focus on
relaxing and letting money flow to you. I started reading one tip a day and
slowly but surely, the Titanic began to turn. Within a short time (100 days),
I no longer worried about money and money did indeed, start flowing towards me.
Of course, there were other things I did to turn the Titanic, but this little
book made a big dent and I highly recommend it to anyone that is worrying about
not having enough money in their lives! - Lily Z. |

FutureThink, How to Think Clearly in a Time of Change
by Edie Weiner and Arnold Brown
I had the opportunity to meet Edie Weiner and spend some quality time with her recently. I heard
her speak and share insights about her many years as a leading futurist consultant to Fortune
companies like General Electric, Kraft, Burger King, the Coca-Cola Co., Dial Corporation and
Harley-Davidson. (The list is really so darn long!) Let me tell you, the woman is brilliant
(extremely funny, too) and is considered one of our times’ greatest thinkers. And speaking of
“thinking,” that’s exactly what this book will teach you...how to THINK! How to think and see
the world in such a way that you will be inspired to come up with ideas to prosper in your
business in the decades to come. You gotta add this one to your library! - Lily Z.

Love is the Killer App, How to Win Business and Influence Friends
by Tim Sanders
Some people call me “the recruiter with a heart.” That’s because I put a lot of love into what I do,
which includes the way in which I treat clients, candidates, employees, vendors, colleagues, even
the people that serve my food in the restaurants I frequent. Reading Tim Sander’s book was very
validating for me! Tim is a senior level executive at Yahoo!, serving as Yahoo!’s Leadership Coach
and prior to that as Chief Solutions Officer, where he oversaw next-generation marketing programs
to world class brands. His thing is teaching people how to be generous and to put love into their
business relationships. That’s my thing too and you’ll love to learn how it’s not only OK to love
the people you deal with on a daily basis, but that it is for sure the Killer App in today’s
stressful world! - Lily Z.

How Not to Be Afraid of Your Own Life, Opening Your Heart to Confidence, Intimacy and Joy
by Susan Piver
Susan left her life as a successful corporate executive to pursue her dream of being a writer
(something I aspire to do one day). A life long Buddhist practitioner, she’s developed a wonderful
and easy to follow strategy for overcoming the fears that get in the way of our experiencing success
and joy in our lives. I had the pleasure of attending one of her mini workshops not long ago and was
impressed with the way in which she caught the attention and awe of her audience. She’s a wonderful
teacher with loads of wisdom to impart on us all. If you feel afraid to start that business, or ask
for that promotion or quit your job to find a better one, or anything else you might be afraid to do,
the doing of which would change your life for the good, then you need to read Susan’s book!

Practicing the Power of Now: Essential Teachings, Meditations, and Exercises from The Power of Now
by Eckhart Tolle
The Power of Now is a seminal work and one of the most influential books in the world.
But it can be daunting to read at first (unless you skip ahead to chapter three).
Practicing the Power of Now is the latest in a series of follow on books by the author, each of which looks for new and more clear ways to restate the same idea. This book succeeds very well and is an ideal introduction to the contributions of Mr. Tolle.
It is hard to overstate the difference these books have made and are making in my life. The essential idea of being fully present and conscious in the "now" is not new, it is the basis of Hindu and Zen Buddhist teachings. Nor is this material new to modern literature, of course. Countless books have been written on this subject including most famously, Be Here Now by Ram Dass. But Mr. Tolle, building on the works and insights of others, has succeeded in capturing these important ideas in, arguably, a more clear and concise way than before, making the breakthroughs even more accessible and understandable.
This is the end of suffering. It is the key to being whole and complete
and fulfilled and enlightened. The way is simple, and only takes practice and a little courage.
Worth a read, don't you think? - Michael W.
