Lily Zapata Winsaft

Ms. Winsaft was born in Bogotá, Colombia and came to the United States when she was 5. She graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a Psychology degree. Because of her interest in human behavior, coupled with a passion for business, starting a company involving people and careers was a perfect fit for her. She is a single mom with two grown sons, ages 29 and 27. Both work in the family business that Lily created in early 2002, in the height of the recession that hit right after 9/11.

As CEO and Founder of Aldebaran Associates, Ms. Winsaft has focused her 25 years of corporate and entrepreneurial experience to create a company dedicated to addressing the hiring and training challenges facing corporations and professionals in the 21st Century. The firm provides highly selective recruiting services for fortune 500 companies in the consumer goods, advertising, marketing, legal, accounting, information technology and non-profit sectors. Given her notoriety in the Hispanic community and among international organizations, her firm plays a major role in boosting organizational diversity and in the placement of candidates at companies transacting business in Latin America or selling products and services to the U.S. Hispanic consumer segment. The company also provides over 30 originally designed corporate training programs focused on helping companies to develop enlightened leaders as well as programs that teach and inspire wellbeing. A third division provides executive and mid-level management career coaching under the umbrella of Professional Empowerment through Personal Enlightenment. The company’s mission is “To Create a World Where People Love What They Do For a Living.”

A huge focus for Lily is helping to bring enlightened and humanitarian practices to corporations worldwide. She and her partner recently created a philanthropic component to her proprietary No-Brainer Retainer™ program whereby, for each search the company is retained on, the client can offer a pro bono search to the charitable organization of their choice. She is the original founder of and completed a 2-year term as President of the Atlanta Chapter of the National Latina Business Woman Association — a nonprofit organization dedicated to the business and professional development of Latinas through education and mentoring opportunities. She participates on the Corporate Advisory Board of the Atlanta Chapter of ALPFA, one of the most prestigious organizations supporting Latino professionals not only in accounting and finance but in many other fields as well. She recently completed a 2-year term on the Board of Directors of the Atlanta Chapter of the Society for Human Resources Management. Lily is an active member of the Advisory Board of Georgia State University Women’s Leadership Forum, supported by the Atlanta Business Chronicle, and committed to empowering women professionally in Atlanta. She is a past advisor/mentor for programs with the International MBA Business Program at Georgia State University, and the MBA International Program at American Intercontinental University, where she served as an active Board Advisor for over three years.

Ms. Winsaft enjoys writing and is a contributor to Latin Business Today, an online magazine dedicated to Latinos in business. She is developing a blog about how personal energy impacts your career, which will soon launch. Always looking for more ways to make a difference, she has also co-founded another company – New World Harmony, LLC – providing thought leadership through custom retreats that challenge conventional wisdom, make sense of the latest research and provide practical, real world experiences to men and women so they have the skills to empower and embold themselves to take actions toward achieving extraordinary goals.

Ms. Winsaft has been a recipient of several awards and has been recognized or featured in numerous publications. The ones that stand out most are receiving the first Hispanic Achievement & Business Leadership Award (HABLA) for Entrepreneurship, and the “Business Woman of the year” award by The Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce — one of the most powerful and influential Hispanic organizations in Atlanta. She was nominated for a Leadership Character Award from the Turknett Leadership Group. For a memorable journey that was filmed by Channel 2 in Atlanta a few years ago, Lily was invited by CARE International to join a special mission trip, sponsored by Delta, UPS and Coca Cola, to Guatemala due to her support of international micro finance and her efforts and passion for empowering women.

On a more personal level, Lily enjoys yoga, jogging, hiking, swimming, bicycling, travel and is an aspiring kite-surfer. She has also recently taken real steps to make a life-long dream come true…becoming a healing arts practitioner.

"As a seasoned professional in the digital industry, I've met and worked with dozens of recruiters, both as an employer and a job seeker. While approaches vary, the difference working with Aldebaran was clear from the onset of the process. As a candidate, Lance and Lily looked beyond the resume bullets to learn about me personally and what truly mattered to me in my next role. Taking the time to make sure both myself and the employer were perfect for each other made the difference - I'm in love with my new job!"

A.S., Senior Director, Digital

"Aldebaran uniquely makes job seeking a pleasant experience. By providing constant, proactive communication and by setting clear expectations on the employer's hiring process, I felt more than a resume on a desk--I felt valued as an applicant, and that I was getting a fair shot to make my case for hire. This experience felt like a precursor to how I would be treated as an employee--and once I received the offer, I accepted it without hesitation”

A.F., Marketing Manager
